You see that man bent over in laughter in the picture above? The one to the left of the Heritage Park Youth Garden sign? That's Kris Dunn, #5 NBA draft pick, and the newest recruit of the Minnesota Timberwolves. We had the honor of meeting and baking with him on June 25th. Only 2 days after being drafted, one of Kris' first stops in Minnesota was to meet the youth of the Green Garden Bakery, bake lemon zucchini muffins (which he said were delicious!!!) and water the garden. The kids immediately hit it off with Kris and spent their time together cracking jokes, sharing about their lives and trying to get Kris to challenge them in an impromptu game.
Check out some of the pictures below!
We wish Kris the best of luck during the new season... Oh, and if things don't work out on the court- I GUESS we'd be willing to add him to our staff as an adult mentor.
Thank you to Kris, The MN Timberwolves & The FastBreak Foundation for supporting the Green Garden Bakery!
In other news, our garden is growing faster than ever and the team has been harvesting many delicious items and preparing for our fall sales! This will be our biggest supply of harvested produce yet- and we are all so excited to utilize them for delicious veggie desserts. Check out our list of sales under the events tab. Our first sale will be at the Annex Farmer's Market on September 11th. We hope to see you there!
Lastly, we'd like to give a warm welcome to the Heritage Park Girl Scouts as they return from their service trip in New Orleans. The Girl Scouts spent many days completing various projects to benefit the New Orlean's community. The Green Garden Bakery helped support the Girl Scouts with a donation of their profits from their fall sales. Congratulations on a successful trip, Girl Scouts!
Where should the GGB donate to next time? Feel free to comment below.
Much peace, love & veggie desserts!
